
Jary Méndez Maddaleno

Jary Méndez is a jurist with a strong international background and extensive academic and professional experience in the fields of Constitutional Law, Human Rights, and Philosophy of Law. She holds an European Doctorate in Government and Culture of Organizations from the University of Navarra (Spain) and the Università degli Studi di Udine (Italy), with the distinction Summa Cum Laude.
She has served in senior academic leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Law at Universidad del Istmo in Guatemala (2013–2022), and currently holds the positions of Vice Dean, Director of the Vita Research Center, and Board Member at the same institution.
As an academic, she has taught at universities in Guatemala, offering courses in Constitutional Law and Philosophy of Law, while also supervising undergraduate and master theses. Her research has been presented at international congresses and published in specialized journals in Latin America. She is the author of the book *La Constitución como proceso político* (Dykinson, Madrid, 2012).
Her professional career combines independent legal practice with a significant intellectual contribution. Her research focuses on constitutional legitimacy, legal interpretation, and the ethical foundations of law in contemporary democracy.
Among her recent contributions is her participation in the International Natural Law Congress (Madrid, 2025), where she presented the paper The Role of Ethos in the Legitimacy and Stability of the Constitution.
Dr. Méndez is widely recognized for her contribution to strengthening legal culture in Latin America and her international projection as a scholar committed to the defense of democratic values and the Rule of Law.
