Threats to the Sanctity of Human Life

By charitably challenging the use of such terms as “preembryo” and “potential life,” we will direct the minds and hearts of our brothers and sisters back to the essential question of when human life begins. This is the essential question because once it is determined that the zygote or the embryo is human from the moment of conception, that zygote or embryo is worthy of protection by the mere fact of his/her humanity. This is clearly what it means to affirm the “inherent dignity” and the “equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family.”
