Spring 2012 – The Mass Implementation of International Sex Education Guidelines

The Mass Implementation of International Sex Education Guidelines

This article by Michael Acquilano discusses the fundamental differences between the UN’s mass implementation of sex education and the vision of the Catholic Church regarding an education in human love. The liberal agenda of the UN contrasts sharply with the person and family centered approach of the Catholic Church to teaching about human love. Whereas for the UN, sex education is oriented to genital stimulation, for the Catholic Church, it is oriented to the mature development of the human person. Acquilano shows that true comprehensive and wholistic sex education only occurs within the Catholic Church’s approach to educating about human love within the context of the family. The liberal, progressive approach of the UN is reductionist and harmful to children.
